Dimethyltryptamine (DMT) is a simple molecule that is found in nature in hundreds of species of plant and is also shown in research that DMT could be found in the brain of mammals, and research in this area is ongoing. DMT works in human system by mimicking the neurotransmitter serotonin. DMT activates serotonin receptors in the brain, which are mostly found in areas of the brain that are associated with higher cognitive processes such as emotion, self-awareness, and introspection. Many believe that DMT produced naturally in the body might be related to spiritual or out-of-body experiences. DMT can be made in the lab synthetically and taken by smoking or from a concoction of Holy Plants.
The chemical substance made artificially in the lab, when smoked, can send one into a psychedelic experience which lasts for 8 – 15 minutes. However, DMT with the Holy Medicine of the Holy and Divine Mother Ayahuasca, it takes the consumer into a Psychedelic experience which lasts for hours.
Although both synthetic and Natural DMT are chemically the same, there are differences in the way of preparations, and in experiences of the consumers.
Synthetic lab made DMT
When chemical DMT is smoked it sends the user almost instantly into an intense but short Psychedelic journey. Users often report being violently shot into space and observing intense insights, outstanding visions, meeting with otherworldly beings, bizarre landscapes, and beautiful patterns. The Psychedelic experience usually only lasts for 8 to 15 minutes.
DMT in the Holy Medicine of the Holy and Divine Mother Ayahuasca
A Holy Medicine, which provides the DMT experience, is prepared by the indigenous people of the Amazons for thousands of years, with help from various Holy Plants. The ingredients and preparation process varies for each shaman and location. This Holy Medicine has been consumed traditionally for religious or spiritual purposes, with churches using them as Sacrament. The Holy Medicine is also used in Sacred Ceremonies with the ‘intention’ of healing individuals, which is supervised by shamans who play important role in the Sacred Ceremonies.
Traditionally the Holy Medicine is made from two plants: the leaves from Psychotria Viridis and the Holy Banisteriopsis Caapi Vine. The Holy Banisteriopsis Caapi Vine contains Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitor (MAOI) which prevents breaking down the active ingredient DMT from the Psychotria Viridis (Chacruna), allowing the DMT to be absorbed in the body.
The Holy Medicine of the Holy and Divine Mother Ayahuasca can be consumed by attending Sacred Ceremonies in any Retreat centres or organisers in the Amazons, especially in Peru, Brazil, and Colombia, many of which aim to attract tourists, especially Westerners, to help them receive ‘Healing’ from the Holy and Divine Mother Ayahuasca, which they are seeking in an increasing manner – resulting in increased tourism in the Amazons, helping local shamans earn more.
There is a huge array of scientific and anecdotal reports show that the Holy experiences from the Holy Medicine of the Holy and Divine Mother Ayahuasca has tremendous impact in helping to treat depression, OCD, PTSD, providing profound therapeutic effects, and also improving people’s perspective of life.

DMT from the Holy Medicine of the Holy and Divine Mother Ayahuasca |
Chemically made in the lab. |
Made from mix of Plants to create a Medicinal Drink which is considered as a Sacred and Holy Brew. |
Illegal in every country in the world |
Legal in South American countries; In the legal grey-area in many countries; Illegal in others; |
The DMT crystal is smoked. |
Taken by ingesting the Holy Medicine of the Holy and Divine Mother Ayahuasca in the Sacred Ceremonies. |
Can need a varying amount of hits to experience the effects, usually at least 1 to 2 hits for new users. |
It is possible to attain a general experience and check sensitivity through ingesting a small amount of the Holy Medicine. May require a varying amount of the Holy Medicine to reach breakthrough experience. |
The Psychedelic experience usually lasts 8 to 15 minutes. |
The Psychedelic experience usually lasts 4 to 8 hours. |
Requires no ceremonial environment. |
Almost always consumed in Sacred Ceremonies, either in religious setting or non-religious setting. |
Requires no supervisor, but a sitter is recommended. |
A supervisor is highly advised for guidance in the long-lasting Psychedelic experience, which is usually undertaken by the shaman. |
Experience can be enlightening but can be confusing for over intensity in a short period of time. |
Experience can tremendously healing and may bring about spiritual realisations and enlightenment. |
Why does the Psychedelic journey last longer with the Holy Medicine of the Holy and Divine Mother Ayahuasca
When DMT is smoked, the molecules are directly absorbed straight into the bloodstream through the lungs, resulting in all the DMT hitting the brain all at once very rapidly- causing the significant difference in experience compared with the Holy Medicine of the Holy and Divine Mother Ayahuasca. As the Holy Medicine of the Holy and Divine Mother Ayahuasca is ingested orally in Sacred Ceremonies, the DMT is absorbed through the stomach lining, which is a much slower form of ingestion as the DMT from the stomach does not reach the brain as rapidly as smoking and is not all fully absorbed through the stomach, making the process much longer and continuous.
Why is the Psychedelic experience more profound with the Holy Medicine
Although it is understood that the role which the MAOI play from the Holy Banisteriopsis Caapi Vine is to enable the absorption of the DMT into the bloodstream, there are some researches which show that the MAOI may be DIRECTLY influencing the experience. Thus, it is a major differentiator compared with the Synthetic DMT born in the lab which is taken by smoking. Another study also suggests that the MAOIs may stimulate the growth of new brain cells and stimulates formation of new connections in the brain.
Conclusion
Although the effects and ingredients of the synthetic DMT, made in the laboratory, has been well known and recorded, however, the Holy Medicine is prepared from Holy Plant sources, with unknown origins, with more research required to know the potential influence on the experience of the Psychedelic journey, which may be much deeper than it is presently known.
